We know that the mental health impacts of disasters can linger for years after a disaster, even after physical infrastructure has been repaired. An ability to plan for mental health needs is as important as the rest of our disaster preparedness work.

In this interactive presentation, Susan will share highlights from the research on resilient communities, and lead activities to help participants build their mental health toolkit including:

  • an assessment tool for mental health needs
  • ideas for an personal action plan to support self, family & community
  • techniques for addressing mental health before, during, and after a large-scale emergency

Susan Snyder  is Lecturer at the Haas School of Business and a Civilian CERT Instructor for the City of Berkeley.

Berkeley Disaster Prep Neighborhood NETWORK is back at the   BFUU Church  (corner of Bonita and Cedar avenues in Berkeley).

[doors open at 6:00 p.m.]
