Starting in late 2025, the area around San Ramon has experienced hundreds of small earthquakes as part of a quake swarm. Earthquake swarms are unique, containing many small tremors in a very concentrated area over long time periods of weeks to months. Dr. Amy Williamson, a seismologist at the UC Berkeley Seismology Laboratory, will discuss the ongoing earthquake swarm in San Ramon and how these earthquakes are different from other recent earthquakes felt in the Bay Area. As a group, we will discuss what Berkeley residents can do to take a proactive role in earthquake hazard preparedness.
