SUMMARY:BeCERTAINN Spring 2021 Emergency Radio Exercise
DESCRIPTION:BeCERTAINN will be running a repeater radio exercise to practice different disaster communication operating procedures. The aim of the exercise is to have participants from the greater Berkeley area simulate the types of operational procedures that may be required after a major earthquake. For the most up-to-date information on this radio exercise\, and to register\, see the BeCERTAINN event page.  \nBDPNN will be working to expand the exercise to coordinate the community at large to expand the exercise to include those with GMRS radios to “listen” as well as those without any radio experience\, radio skills\, or radio equipment. DESCRIPTION:In-person gathering at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists Church (at the corner of Cedar and Bonita) \nThursday\, May 29th\, at 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. \nThere’ll be free drinks and appetizers\, plus some giveaways. \nCome meet Berkeley’s leaders in disaster preparedness. Representatives from the city’s mayor’s office\, city council\, fire department\, health department\, office of emergency services\, and CERT\, as well as folks with BDPNN and BeCERTAINN. \nWe’ll have brief introductions\, and then an opportunity to connect one on one\, ask questions of our guest speakers; and build relationships with others doing the important work of community-based disaster preparedness. \nCome hear about the proposed EMBER program\, CERT trainings\, and how we can step up locally as individuals\, neighborhoods\, communities at a time when support for federal programs are being cut.
